Once the engine is placed, these slots allow the engine to be shifted a bit to square it up. You do not need to remove the pan from the motor and cut it up! The modification is about 1.5\" to 2\" hole in the support flange for the center hard line on the rack. You do not need to remove the pan for this modification. The addition of our fast ratio AE steering arms to your car will net the steering angle and quickness of the popular manual rack swaps. \"Lower profile\" motor brackets would require severe modifications to the oil pan and further expose the front sump oil pan to damage from the bottom.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #3366ff; text-decoration: underline;\"\u003eHood fitment:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen used with our 1.5\" front frame spacers, no cutting of the under hood bracing is required and minimal trans tunnel clearance work is required. If you opt for thinner spacers (1\"), you can still get the motor to fit under the hood skin and will only need to cut the under hood bracing for fitment in the motor well. The 1\" forward rack location allows the elimination of offset rack ends that tend to bend the steering rack due to the offset leverage problem. The forward mounted rack positions help with motor swaps where the oil pans have a rear brace built in such as BEAMS pans. The pulley is slightly larger then the BEAMS which will reduce the peak RPM on the alternator and prolong it's life, it's also needed for proper belt fitment. While the JZ pulley is a 6 rib, the BEAMS 4 rib belt drive will align properly, no need to change pulleys.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #0000ff;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\"\u003e Electrical connections \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003e  The JZ alternator uses the same plug type as the BEAMS for the excite wires and the same size post for the power wire. The location of the two connections are quite close to the BEAMS locations making hook ups easy. The difficulty with other alternator kits is the placement of the power wire right up against the engine block leaving nearly no room for error to cause a dead short and potential fire. Other kits on the market actually down grade you to an 80 amp unit, you sure you want to do that? Most alternators are not rated to run at peak output, much as injectors or home generators are designed to run at 80% capacity. An 80 amp alternator will only safely output approximately 64 amps if you want it to last, our JZ alternator will function properly at 80 amps.
