Front Lower Arms
Our all new front control arm design is a fixed 25mm extended and features a fully boxed arm made from only 4 welded components, the Spherical mount, two main beam halves and the lower ball joint nose section. By keeping components to a minimum and maximizing formed metal, we've reduced welding, increased strength and can deliver an extremely strong arm without the higher cost that comes from lot of welding.
All lot of manufacturers tout "TIG" welding as the only way to fabricate, but we find they usually have poor engineering with welds on every corner. You can use the "Best" process, but it doesn't compensate for bad designs. By moving the welds away from the high stress corners, we increase strength and dramatically increase the arms ability to take impacts with no worry if a corner weld splitting. Fabricating our way also significantly reduces heat in the material from extensive welding which causes it's own material stress and distortion. If you fold a cardboard box and tape the top and bottom shut right down the middle, it's quite a strong box, now cut the sides off and tape those back together. Which box do you want, the one with the formed sides or the one with taped sides?
We've used a replaceable Teflon lined spherical bearing for the chassis mounting point instead of a bushing, this is intended to keep deflection down and allow for good articulation of Caster. Typically when you pull arms forward to increase Caster, the inner rubber or Poly bushing will pinch on the corners and cause premature wear and possible failure. We've also used Stainless Steel spacers on the spherical to pass the main bolt through. This is not the place to use softer aluminum that can deform over time from the impacts front wheels can see. The stainless also ensures that any water and grime won't rust up the bolt, making it hard to service.
The outer ball joint is a factory type unit, they have greater articulation angles then heims and are sealed and greased. If you've ever had a factory car go 100K+ miles on a stock ball joint, you'll understand the benefits of using them, not to mention they're readily available at any auto parts store.
The 25mm extended length has become a commonly know standard, while we had made arms with the ability for more width, we found that we always came back to 25mm and wished we just has simple solid arm with long life components, so that's what we've made.
The arms can use any tension rod that mounts up to the factory lower control arm mounting points, such as our single rod OEM style adjustable tension rods. You can get plenty of Caster adjustment while maintaining an ultra simple design that has extremely low component wear and failure rate.
Front Tension Rod Mounts
There is a lot of fabrication engineering packed into these simple brackets. Increasing strength, maintaining all factory mount locations and types as well as upgrades like an optional Spherical Tension rod mount that works with OEM type tension rods.
You can put a lot of effort and cost into improving all the components on the front end, but if you leave the stock lightweight mounting points, are you getting the most out of your upgrades? We've been making the best front crossmembers for years, it's time to upgrade the tension rod mounts.
Made from .105"(2.65mm)steel, we've not only beefed up the material thickness, but streamlined the design while adding double plated on mounting points. The stock brackets were never designed for the higher loads, bigger high offset wheels, more aggressive braking and definitely not full lock impacts or increased body torsional loads.
These front mounts will only work with OEM threaded rod type Tension rods like our XM adjustable mounts.
Front
Tension rods
We've designed these front tension rods with simplicity in mind, no fancy parts that cost more money to do a simple job, just tough and functional. The Corolla factory design has some good qualities, if you can keep them to your advantage. A lot of companies that make Heim style tension rods don't factor in that they shorten the swing radius of the tension rod. This increases Caster deviation throughout the range of motion. Did you want to increase the amount of Caster variability?
If you want a more solid front mounting arrangement then the stock rubber or our Polyurethane units, we also offer all new Tension Rod Mounts with built in Spherical bearings.
Made from 16mm steel bar with a heavy welded control arm mounting point, we've delivered some necessary features in a simple design. Who knows, maybe The engineers at Toyota were actually pretty smart?
With the front section fully threaded, all the Caster adjustment is done up front with just two nuts, just like factory. This has allowed us to keep the center section slimmer and cleaner so your tires and rims don't tag an adjuster sleeve causing damage and running the risk of jarring things loose. This design has also allowed us to offset the rod section through the middle to gain approximately 5/8" more tire clearance over stock arms and up to 1" more than center adjust styles tension rods allowing for more steering angle before the tire hits the tension rod.
Something else people are not usually concerned with but is good to keep in mind, since drifting doesn't always go as planned, these arms are fixable. With the simple design and lack of exotic parts, you can straighten, re-weld and re-use these if they get damaged. You can also call us if you need to replace just one, we manufacture in house and can deliver on single side replacements!
Front
Tension rod Bushings
Tension rod bushings are such a simple part and play an important part in the overall handling of the front end. Those no question that factory rubber bushings are fine for street use, if they're not cracked from age. Polyurethane is the easy way to tighten up the Tension rod and add accuracy to the steering without sacrificing ride and NVH absorption.
Our poly bushing kit is designed to work on will factory style fitment tension rods, such as our aftermarket tension rods. The 80A durometer is nice upgrade from stock rubber without being harsh, making them a good medium between stock and competition. The polyurethane also has a high life expectancy, greater than the factory rubber.
We've also included new washers to make the whole package a clean install.
All of our Poly bushings are manufactured in America at an ISO9001 certified facility using our own molds. We don't sell other manufacturers products with our name on it and we don't wait for "containers" to come in with our products.
Front Mounts, Tension rods and bushings are sold as independent pairs. IE, Front Mounts do NOT come with tension rods and bushings. They must be selected independently for purchase.
